How Bellflower ASB Leaders Support the CASL Mission Statement

BELLFLOWER MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL ASB MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Bellflower Middle/High School Associated Student Body (ASB) is to develop ethical, responsible, and servant leaders in alignment with the California Association of Student Leaders (CASL). Guided by the principles of Buc PRIDE: Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence, our student leaders are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, fun, and service-oriented school culture for students, staffulty, and the greater community.

Through student voice, leadership development, and service opportunities, ASB empowers students to build community, honor traditions, and introduce innovative experiences that promote belonging, character, and school pride. We strive to model leadership that inspires involvement and positively impacts every Buccaneer, Because Unity Creates Success.

BELLFLOWER MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL ASB LEADERSHIP NARRATIVE

At the beginning of the school year, Bellflower ASB leaders participated in ASB Camp at Lions Camp at Teresita Pines, where students built relationships, connected with new classmates, and established a shared vision for the year. During camp, the Executive Cabinet introduced Change Agents to the CADA/CASL roadmap and emphasized the importance of using these checkpoints when planning activities and initiatives. Through collaborative discussions and group work, students explored what their school should look like, feel like, and sound like when leadership is executed with intention. From these conversations, leadership goals were developed and strategies for achieving them were established.

Throughout the school year, our Change Agents have worked intentionally to introduce new ideas while preserving valued campus traditions, demonstrating ethical decision-making, responsibility, and service. As student leaders, we recognize our role in shaping school culture by modeling positive behavior, fostering inclusivity, and serving as role models for our peers. Our goal is not only to be kind, but to be encouraging, inspiring, and welcoming, ensuring that Bellflower Middle/High School remains a safe and supportive environment for all students and staffulty.

Bellflower ASB places a strong emphasis on leadership development through ongoing training and professional learning. Our ASB Directors, Assistant Principal of Activities, and faculty advisors have attended multiple CADA and CASL conferences, strengthening our program through continued growth and best practices. Our primary advisor, Mrs. Hovis, is currently participating in the Master Activities Director Program, further supporting the intentional development of student leadership on our campus. In addition, many of our Change Agents have attended CASL conferences, the Area E CADA Conference in Pasadena, and a leadership training hosted by Keith Hawkins, focused on personal growth and becoming the best version of oneself. These experiences have inspired new ideas, strengthened relationships, and deepened our understanding of servant leadership.

Student voice and community feedback remain central to our work. ASB leaders actively seek input from students and staffulty and encourage campus-wide involvement in school events and service projects. One event that exemplifies this commitment is Fall Fest, which highlighted strong club participation and community engagement. With over 1,000 attendees, Fall Fest showcased the power of collaboration, service, and inclusive school culture.

Through our continued involvement with CASL, Bellflower Middle/High School ASB has evolved into a program that prioritizes diversity, connection, character, and community engagement. Our leaders are committed to growing as ethical, responsible, and servant leaders who make a positive impact on our campus and beyond. We believe in working every day to make Bellflower a better place for every Buccaneer, Because Unity Creates Success.
